As a volunteer member of the Vanderburgh County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) you will be provided specialized training in emergency preparedness free of charge. This will include not only online courses, but also the opportunity to train with local emergency responders.

To help prepare for your work as an MRC volunteer, the following courses should be completed:

  • Orientation

From the TrainingFinder Real-time Affiliate Integrated Network (MRC TRAIN) at: www.mrc.train.org

Upon successful completion of FEMA courses, you will receive an email containing the link to print your certificate, and upon successful completion of MRC-TRAIN courses, your certificates will be available to print from the website. Please save a copy of your training certificates and provide them to the MRC Coordinator.

  • Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT)

Live training for the Vanderburgh County Medical Reserve Corps
will be held the second Wednesday of each month at 6 PM in Southwestern
Healthcare’s Welborn Room next door to the Health Department.  
  • Wednesday March 13th 2013, Welborn Room
    6 pm. Topics: 1 yr MRC Anniversary and Volunteer Recognition; MCI Triage.
  • Wednesday April 10th 2013, Welborn Room
    6 pm. Topics:  Working with the Deaf; Autism Awareness.
  • Wednesday May 8th 2013, CANCELLED 
    The topic, Pet First Aid and CPR, will be rescheduled.
  • Wednesday June 12th 2013, location TBD
    6 pm. Topics:  Tentative cookout; Radio Procedure and Communication.
  • Wednesday July 10th 2013, Welborn Room
    6 pm. Topics: Working with the Blind; Sensitivity Training; Lifts.
  • Wednesday August 14th 2013, Welborn Room
    6 pm. Topic: POD Training.
