Garvin Park
Garvin Park is one of Evansville's oldest and popular parks.  Purchased in 1915, for $50,000, the 80 acres provides a large lake, swimming pool, playground, tennis & basketball courts and is next to historic Bosse Field.  Garvin Park is listed on the National Register of Historical Places and is a favorite for public gatherings.  During the month of December, the local Easter Seals features the Ritzy Fantasy of Lights for the Christmas season.

Rainbow Trout at Garvin Park

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has released 550 rainbow trout in the lake at Garvin Park. DNR’s idea was to bring trout fishing to where more people can enjoy fishing. The fish are idea for frying or anyway you please. The fish will only survive with the cool water temperature through the fall to spring months. If this experiment is a success, this project may be repeated yearly. Click on this link for the webpage for fishing license requirements, or contact Dan Carnahan at 812-789-2724, for more information.

Fall is a wonderful time to visit Garvin Park.  The trees become vibrant with color and the weather makes for an ideal time to take a stroll.
