In 2013, Evansville will begin using 96-gallon roll-out container carts and automated curbside pick-up. Customers will receive one cart for trash and one cart (with green lid) for recycling. Additional carts are available upon request. A one-time cost of $100 will be charged for each additional cart. There is no charge for servicing an additional cart.
Trash services include:
• Standardization of trash containers using a 96-gallon cart
(or smaller cart is available upon request)
• Weekly pick-up
• Automated curb and alley pick-up
• Special unlimited leaves collection in fall. Leaves must be in
biodegradable bags or loose in containers.
• Christmas tree pick-up (with normal trash)
Your new trash container and recycling carts assigned to the address of your house and are managed by Allied Waste Services. As of this time, most locations for trash pick-up will remain the same. You will be notified if there’s a change to your pick-up location. On your scheduled collection day, please have your cart placed for pick-up before 6 a.m.
Yard waste, like grass and shrub clippings and tree limbs, should be placed in your 96-gallon container cart with your trash once you receive your new container. Never place trash or yard waste in your designated recycling cart. For the first two years of the new automated cart service (2013-2014), you can put excess yard waste next to the cart and it will be picked up. In the third year (2015) and beyond, all of your trash and yard waste must be contained in your cart, except during designated times. Allied Waste Services, the City’s collection service, provides more yard waste information on its website.

Allied Waste Services can also take away your Christmas tree. Pick-up will occur during the first full week of January on the same day as your trash collection.
