COUNTY ENGINEERING
The County Engineering Department is responsible for designing and/or overseeing road projects under the jurisdiction of the Board of Commissioners. It also oversees the maintenance of all bridges in Vanderburgh County (including the city limits of Evansville) except those on state roads. Other duties include inspecting newly constructed roads to ensure that they are built to county standards, overseeing contracted road paving projects and assisting the Board with a wide variety of other engineering assignments. The Engineering Department is located at 201 NW 4th St Suite 307 in the Old Courthouse and the phone number is 812/435-5773. This office has a staff of six and is headed by John Stoll, P.E.

COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT
The County Highway Department is responsible for maintaining and paving accepted roads and streets under the jurisdiction of the Board of Commissioners. In addition, county highway crews ensure that roads are passable during inclement weather by clearing them of snow and ice, felled trees, and clean out ditches to ensure that runoff water flows smoothly. The Highway Garage is located at 5105 N St. Joseph Avenue and their phone number is 812/435-5777. The County Highway crew has almost 40 employees and the Superintendent is Chris Walsh.

BURDETTE PARK
Burdette Park is a county-owned facility that provides a recreational and educational environment for patrons of all ages. Located at 5301 Nurrenbern Road, the park includes one of the largest aquatic centers in the midwest, rental chalets and shelters, camping, and The O'Day Discovery Lodge.  The annual summer Discovery Camp combines education and recreation for children ages 6 - 13.  The facility's main phone number is 812/435-5602 and is managed by Steve Craig.

THE OLD COURTHOUSE
Control of the Old Courthouse was returned to the County in 2001.  The County has invested $6.4 million in renovations that include a new roof and copper domes, energy-efficient windows, upgraded electrical, plumbing, and heating and air conditioning systems.  Both private and public sector offices occupy the facility.  Its historic rooms have also become a popular venue for weddings and other events.  Click here to request rental information.  

THE CENTRE
The county-owned Evansville Auditorium and Convention Centre (The Centre) offers a dynamic 2,500 seat auditorium along with a 38,000 sq.foot exhibition hall; a 14,000 sq. foot ballroom and 12 full-service meeting rooms.  The Centre is located on the corner of Locust Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard in Downtown Evansville.

AREA PLAN COMMISSION
Planning to ensure efficient and effective growth and development for Evansville and Vanderburgh County by means of zoning permits.

CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER
Responsible for helping establish the vision, strategy, direction, guidelines, policies, planning, coordination, and oversight for information technology for all of the agencies of our city/county government.

COMPUTER SERVICES
Manages the mainfrane environment for the City and County and the platforms supporting the Executive, Administrative, Fiscal, and Judicial functions of City and County government.

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY
Coordinates response in the event of emergencies and disasters.

HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION
Investigates charges of discrimination within Vanderburgh County and the City of Evansville in areas of employment, education, credit, public accommodations and housing.

JOINT CENTRAL DISPATCH
Receives emergency telephone calls for assistance in relation to Fire, Police and Sheriff calls and dispatches proper equipment.

LEGAL AID SOCIETY
Provides legal assistance to low income families in family and civil matters.

PURCHASING DEPARTMENT
Facilitates efficient and legal purchasing practices within the City and County by establishing purchasing policy with approval of the Mayor, Controller, and County Commissioners.

SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT
Works to inform and educate the citizens of Vanderburgh County about proper waste disposal, waste reduction, reuse, recycling and hazardous household waste and, in conjunction with the private sector, provide quality programs and services in these areas.

WEIGHTS AND MEASURES
Enforces laws pertaining to weights and measures.  Supervision of weighing and measuring devices and commodities.
